Holiday Season, 2007

For generations of Manhattanites and visitors from around the globe, The Waldorf=Astoria has been the place in New York City to spend the holidays. Today, we pay homage to that tradition every time we welcome a guest through our doors.

The Park Avenue Lobby is bedecked and bedazzling with poinsettias, decorations, and glittering, oversized holiday trees, and the Main Lobby’s famed Clock Tower is festooned with garland.  Guests and visitors stroll to and fro, filling our hallways and lobbies with the warmth of the season as they joyfully greet old friends and make new ones.  Presiding over all, our hospitality team is ever watchful but never intrusive, standing at the ready to satisfy the slightest whim of every guest.  Whether The Waldorf=Astoria is your favorite holiday destination or one you have yet to visit, we invite you join us and look forward to welcoming you to our home.

Our holidays Venues

Peacock Alley
Featuring the culinary artistry of Chef de Cuisine and Director Cedric Tovar, Peacock Alley offers a casually upscale environment serving visually stunning, epicurean sensations. Diners at Peacock Alley relax and engage in people-watching from their privileged perch just off the hotel’s Main Lobby. Peacock Alley also hosts the hotel’s celebrated Christmas Day and New Year’s Day Buffet Brunches around the Lobby Clock Tower.

Bull And Bear
Long considered one of the city’s finest steakhouse restaurants, Bull and Bear has an atmosphere of refined comfort reminiscent of a private club. During the holidays, Chef de Cuisine Marc Melillo venerates American traditions, presenting heritage favorites with subtle, yet inspired, twists. Bull and Bear is the only venue in New York serving Certified Prime Angus Beef, and Chef Melillo coaxes this rare commodity to its ultimate expression. He personally chooses select Nebraska ranches with the talent and geography to produce beef of exquisite quality, then finishes their beef with 28 days of dry aging for indescribable tenderness and flavor.

Oscar’s American Brasserie
Under the direction of world-class Chef de Cuisine Paul Marshall, Oscar’s has evolved into a truly stellar dining destination with a relaxed, bistro-lounge ambience. Chef Marshall mines the riches of his global experience to enhance Oscar’s menu with gratifying flavors. During the season, Oscar’s offers Holiday Buffets with an array of both classic favorites and seasonal innovations, as well as Prix-Fixe, Multi-Course Feasts.

Cocktail Terrace
Soaring above Park Avenue Lobby you’ll find Cocktail Terrace, an engaging locale to relax and watch the world go by. Wednesday through Sunday during the holidays, Cocktail Terrace cheers guests with its elaborate Holiday Tea, cocktails and champagne, while resident pianist Daryl Sherman plays holiday favorites on Cole Porter’s piano. Cocktail Terrace is closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.

Special Celebrations
During the holidays, The Waldorf=Astoria often expands its festivities into the hotel’s elegant special event venues. Guests are seated in the richly decorated and historic milieus generally reserved for elite social functions or grand celebrity galas. On Thanksgiving Day, join us for an elaborate Holiday Buffet in the elegant Hilton Room, just off Park Avenue Lobby. On New Year’s Eve, revel in the extravagant environs of the Grand Ballroom, New York City’s only four-tiered ballroom and home to Manhattan’s most illustrious events.
