Summer 2008
Waldorf Newsletter
Welcome to The Waldorf

I have been with The Waldorf=Astoria for nearly three decades, yet every day brings delights that renew my enjoyment of this hotel. Summerg is particularly exciting here, new exiting menus in our restaurants and the many brides finalizing details for their weddings.

This summer, we are also preparing a new phase of our Waldorf Museum, and have completed filming on a movie about the hotel’s history. We have also hired an archivist to catalog the hotel’s extensive collection of documents and memorabilia.

When you stay with us or host an event here, your visit becomes woven into the rich fabric of our history. We hope you enjoy the time you spend with us, and we look forward to helping you create special memories. They are very special to us, as well.

From the Chef's Kitchen
by Executive Chef John Doherty

Summer is the time of year when the outdoors, with the lure of picnics, cookouts on the grill, and other al fresco treats, beckons to us all. Diners’ thoughts invariably turn to lighter dishes such as seasonal vegetables, crisp salads, and fresh fish and seafood.

For this reason, we close or curtail the hours of some of our food and beverage venues during the summer, and update with a lighter approach the menus of those that remain open.
